About Forest Neurotech
Our mission is to advance healthcare by making neurotechnology accessible, less invasive, and adaptable across a range of neurological conditions. Our work holds promise for millions worldwide suffering from conditions like Parkinson’s disease, treatment-resistant depression, and cognitive-motor dissociation in critical care settings.
Forest’s Nonprofit Advantage
In March 2024, Convergent Research announced support from former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and Wendy Schmidt to Forest Neurotech*. As a Focused Research Organization (FRO), Forest Neurotech is a new breed of nonprofit startup. FROs are an innovative funding structure engineered to support moonshot efforts that create new scientific tools and datasets. As a FRO, Forest can focus on impactful applications and scientific dissemination, ensuring maximum public benefit without commercial constraints. Forest's state-of-the-art tools, research, and discoveries will be shared with the broader scientific community, aligning with its commitment to open science.
*In addition to support from Eric Schmidt, Forest Neurotech has received funding from Griffin Catalyst, the philanthropic organization of Citadel CEO Kenneth C. Griffin, the Riley & Susan Bechtel Foundation, and James Fickel.
Forest’s Team
Forest Neurotech was founded in October 2023 by two Caltech scientists and a founding team member of Verily, building on recent breakthroughs in ultrasound neurotechnologies. Our multidisciplinary team of experts — from physics, engineering, and translational neuroscience — brings experience from Stanford, Meta, Google, Caltech, and UC Berkeley.
Forest is guided by a distinguished group of advisors from Caltech, Google, Columbia University, Neuropace, and OpenAI.
